Foundational Objectives

Children are innocent, vulnerable, dependent, curious, active and full of hope. What does change is the circumstances they are faced with and the situations they live in.

This is exactly what makes children on the street different from others around them. They are faced with the demons of physical danger, poverty, hunger, homelessness, epidemics and illiteracy. These children are often found as orphans, engaged in hazardous work and petty crimes or end up as victims of prostitution and sexual abuse.

Holistic development of school children

We work for the holistic development of street children, providing shelter, nutritional diets, education, medical care, health care benefits, counseling, recreation, integration into family life, support and love. We do this by partnering with voluntary organizations working for children. We provide expertise, voluntary service, guidance, training to the staff on administration and management, and monitor and evaluate the programs

Holistic healing

Holistic healing means taking an holistic approach when seeking treatment for imbalances and choosing to live a more balanced lifestyle. What primarily distinguishes holistic healing apart from alternative medicine, complementary medicine, and integrative medicine is that physical health is not necessarily the main focus. Even so, it is often the experience of physical discomfort that will first prompt a person's pursuit of holistic healing.

It is true that our pains and other physical discomforts demand our attention. This is where the saying "sticking out like a sore thumb'" originated from. It is difficult to ignore the obvious when we are physically hurting.

No-Fad Teen Diets

No-Fad Teen Diets
Teen DietsTeen diets are often notoriously poor in health benefits and rich in the wrong kinds of nutrients. This is because teenagers are concerned more with self image than good nutrition.
Teenage girls, especially, worry about how thin they look. Teenagers can develop unhealthy perspectives on body image, which can lead to fad dieting and poor eating habits.

. Child Obesity Prevention is Better than Treatment

Teen nutrition is a hot topic today, because overweight or obese teens are more likely to develop weight related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and to experience eating disorders. Teaching teens how to eat nutritionally, even when on the go, can lead to a new song. This song is all about healthy lifestyles that will last long beyond the teenage years.
Practical Tips

Reduce the amount you eat at a time and also cut back on the amount of fat in your diet

Avoid snacking on high foods between meals .Eat some fruits instead

Drink sufficient water everyday

Include high fibre foods in your meals,as this will help you feel fuller longer .Switch on to whole grain cereals rather than refined foods

Distribute your calories throughout the day with higher percentage in the morning and gradually decreasing towards evening

Avoid high carbohydrates (rice bread cakes )in the evening

Child Obesity In India Needs Your Help And Support

It's too bad the songs teenagers hear today don't have words like this: "You love junk food, you love to be fast, but your body is unhappy, and your heart will not last . . ."

An evolving problem

The number of teenagers who are overweight or obese is on the rise, and has been for a number of years. Once upon a time teenagers spent quality time in physical education classes at school and joined some kind of sports team for an after school activity. Meals were then eaten with the family.
Even if they did not become a team member, local neighborhood teens would get together to play one-on-one basketball or an impromptu softball game. Just think about the last time you saw a group of teenagers voluntarily riding bicycles or even going for a jog. Many teens today can be found sitting in front of computers instead of outside getting exercise.

Teenagers have become victims of society's preference for everything to be fast. There are fast food meals, fast games, drive-through restaurants, snack machines and microwave meals.
All a teen has to do is put a dollar in the snack machine to get a bag of chips that has virtually no nutritional value, and a sugar-loaded soda that drastically affects blood sugar levels. Even school lunches have not promoted healthy eating habits. They serve cheap fried foods and foods made with fatty meats or high in carbohydrates.

Indicator of weight related problems

Unhealthy eating habits tend to run in families, as you learn bad eating habits from your parents. Childhood obesity can be a strong indicator of weight-related health problems in later life, showing that learned unhealthy lifestyle choices continue into adulthood.

Child obesity

Three Steps to Tackling Childhood Obesity
Discuss your child's needs with his doctor. She may refer you to a behavior-management or counseling program that addresses the many unique causes of childhood obesity. At home, take a three-pronged approach. Your child needs your help to improve his eating habits, his activity level, and probably his self-esteem too.

lifestyle choices

Lifestyle choices
Lifestyle choices are an important factor in influencing your weight. Eating more calories than you need may be down to unhealthy food choices. For example, unhealthy food choices could be:
eating processed or fast food that is high in fat,

not eating fruit, vegetables and unrefined carbohydrates, such as wholemeal bread and brown rice,
·         drinking too much alcohol - alcohol contains a lot of calories, and heavy drinkers are often overweight, and

·         eating out a lot - as you may have a starter or dessert in a restaurant, and the food can be higher in fat and sugar,

·         eating larger portions than you need - you may be encouraged to eat too much if your friends or relatives are also eating large portions, and
·         comfort eating - if you feel depressed or have low self-esteem you may comfort eat to make yourself feel better.
